A Legacy of Learning: A History of Our Local Schools
June- September 2012
September 4 - November 15, 2008
This exhibition explores the possibility of the table as a place that brings together family, and friends. What you see in this exhibition is a peek into the cupboards of your neighbors in Bushnell, Canton, Colchester, Macomb, and Roseville. Setting the Table celebrates the diversity of what is held precious to the West Central Illinois community.
The table as a meeting place is the setting for what ties a community together: sharing time, exchange of ideas, and the generosity of others. Setting the Table brings together dishware of different time periods, styles, and occasions contrasting the old and the new, the fashionable and the common, the elegant and the everyday.
Setting the Table: Then and Now is co-curated by Elaine Goldfarb and Estela Pledge. The formal dining set is on loan from Floor to Ceiling of Macomb and Western Illinois Art Gallery provided the vitrines.
