Through the Lens: A Photo History of Macomb

April 8 - July, 2005

This year is Macomb's 175th anniversary, and Western Illinois Museum President, Katherine Walker, is helping to celebrate the city’s septaquintaquinque by presenting a photographic display illustrating Macomb’s past.  "Ithink that people will be very interested to see the photos from 1914 of theconstruction of the post office and the old dairy as it was in the 1940s," saidWalker.  "We also have aerial pictures of the WIU campus that willamaze people as to how it has changed over the years."

The exhibit will feature many photos taken by local photographers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  Additionally, there will be numerous examples of cameras and other photography related items as well as various artifacts from the Museum's collection pertaining to the photos displayed.
